20th Week Belly Pics!

Whoa! I feel huge! I'm in my 20th week now and I feel a lot bigger than I should be at this stage. In the beginning I couldn't wait to start showing, but now I see my belly growing faster everyday and I'm starting to worry that I'm going to get HUGE! Our baby girl is moving a lot now. I've been feeling the movements for a couple of weeks, but Shawn actually felt it for the first time last night! How exciting! The movements are not hard, but definitely enough to be felt each time. It started off with feeling like little rumbles but are getting stronger everyday. It's such an amazing feeling, I feel like the baby is trying to communicate with me. I was laying down watching TV and as I rolled over, the baby started kicking and as soon as I got back to my original position, she stopped. It's like she was communicating with me telling me not to move. Cute!

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Due to our busy schedule this weekend, Shawn took me out to the mall on Friday evening and told me he wanted to buy me something. I ended up getting a couple of items of maternity clothes, and we went out to an italian restauarant to celebrate. And he treated me like VIP all weekend, I got to choose anything I wanted to do and eat whatever I wanted to eat all weekend. Although I'm not technically a "mother" yet, it was nice of Shawn to want to do something for me! He's going to be such a great daddy :-)

It's a GIRL!!!

We just got back from our appointment and we're having a GIRL!!! Thanks to everyone that took the poll - majority of you guys guessed right! We're very very excited and we're so happy that we can finally put a gender to our baby. This baby girl is going to be so loved!!

Here is the story of my what happened today:
I had to go to Fairfax Radiology Center to get today’s 20th week ultrasound. Coincidentally, my mom’s doctor’s office was in the same building, and she also had her doctor’s appointment today. Her appointment was an hour before mine, so she made plans to meet us in the lobby and she was going to join Shawn and me to our appointment. Well, she had some issues at her doctor’s appointment and she was not able to make it. In fact, her nurse practitioner kept calling me while I was on my way to my appt because there was some paperwork confusion. To make the long story short, I had to go into my appointment alone because I had to send Shawn to my mom’s doctor’s office to help take care of her issues. I was hoping Shawn would make it back to me in time for the actual ultrasound but he never did. It took him so long to take care of my mom’s issues that he never made it to my appointment. I went through the whole appointment by myself.

The appointment went great, though. It took about an hour and the technician went through all of the baby’s organs and body parts to make sure everything is developing normally. I think I lucked out with a very nice and friendly technician because she talked me through everything she was doing. It’s incredible what the ultrasounds can show. I was able to see the baby’s face, brain, spine, kidneys, stomach, hands, feet, etc etc. She also kept commenting on how “active” the baby was. The baby was moving around so much during the ultrasound, it was really cute! I didn’t tell her but I drank some soda before the appointment to make the baby more active but I might’ve overdone it. HAHA. She asked me if I wanted to find out the gender and although I was dying to know, I felt like it was unfair for Shawn to miss this special moment with me, so I had her write it and put it in an envelope so Shawn and I can open it together later. After my appointment, I ran to my mom’s doctor’s office and I see Shawn and my mom both sitting in the lobby area. I pulled out the envelope and all three of us opened it together. Although, it was unfortunate that Shawn missed my appointment, I think it was definitely a blessing to be able to find out together, especially with my mom also being there. All three of us were so excited when we saw GIRL in the envelope!! We were so surprised and so happy! It feels nice to now put a gender to the baby.

I can’t stop thinking about all the cute clothes I’m going to buy for our baby girl. Now, I can start thinking of the nursery themes and think cute pink items…and NAMES! Although Shawn and I don’t agree on most names, we have a few in mind that we’re considering. I’ll let you all know once we come up with a few definite ones. Thank you to everyone for all the texts, emails, posts, and calls! I can’t wait for you all to meet our baby girl. Our baby girl is going to have so many awesome aunties!!!

Girl or Boy??

In the beginning of my pregnancy, most people were predicting a GIRL for me. As time goes on, more and more people are changing their minds and predicting a BOY for me. I am in the 19th week of my pregnancy today, and I thought it would be fun to take a poll of what everyone's guess is. 16th Week Belly Pic!

Here are my currently belly pics. I'm in my 16th week. These pictures make my belly look huge, but it's actually not that big in person. I think the close-up pictures make it look even bigger than it actually is. I started noticing the belly increasing the past couple of weeks....and it started to grow even faster the past few days. My morning sickness is gone and I'm starting to eat more. yay!~

Per my doctor, I am able to find out the gender between 18-20 weeks. I wanted to go closer to 18 weeks because I'm dying to find out asap, but Shawn wants to wait till 20 weeks so that there aren't any mistakes. I tried to compromise with him and make it for the 19th week, but unforunately, due to Shawn's hectic work schedule, I couldn't get an appointment in until Thursday, 5/7/09. So Shawn wins again!

I can't wait to find out the gender so we can finally start discussing names and pick out decorations and bedding ideas for the nursery! I'm counting down the days till 5/7/09. I hope the baby cooperates! We will let everyone know when we find out!

2nd Trimester

Today marks the first day of my 2nd trimester @ 14 weeks. My morning sickness is definitely getting better. I'm not sure if it was the new prenatal vitamins or if it was just time for me to get better. It's been over a week since I threw up and even though I'm still nauseous at times, it's definitely better than before. I can handle the nausea as long as it does not come with vomiting. I feel like I'm starting to eat more, too. I don't really have the crazy "cravings" yet, but I'm sure once I do, I will start to blow up. Speaking of blowing up, two of my coworkers are shocked at how small I still am. I can definitely notice a growing rounder belly (as I can't even button my pants to the top anymore), but they think I should be bigger by now. I disagree because most of my friends say they didn't show until the 5th month. I went to the maternity store last weekend and made my first purchases of maternity clothes (a pair of slacks, jeans and a dress). Even though I was excited to buy them, I realized it's still too early to actually wear them. They've been sitting in my closet since and I have not worn them yet. I guess we'll just have to wait till my belly pops more. Right now, the rubber band is still my best friend. I will start to take pictures of my belly starting the 16th week and I'll post them on this blog.

My morning sickness has been killing me! I knew I was going to get morning sickness as soon as I found out I was pregnant, because I’m normally sensitive to motion sickness, car rides, etc. Literally days after I found out I was pregnant, my nausea started. For over a month, it was just constant annoying nausea. Then around my 10th week for about 3-4 days I had nothing. I started to think I was getting all better then BAM! It came back full force with vomiting that next day. It was so bad I couldn’t even make it into work that day. Ever since then, the vomiting started and I’ve been vomiting almost every morning (about 5 out of 7 days). Most mornings, as soon as I get up from bed, I go straight to the bathroom to vomit. It’s bad because there’s nothing to vomit except for that yellow acidy stuff (sorry TMI).

I went to my doctor’s appointment this week and told my doctor about it. He prescribed me this prescription prenatal vitamin called Premesis. He said it helps a lot of his patients with morning sickness. I took my first dose last night but I’m still nauseous this morning, although, I did not vomit today. I’m praying that this works. I also got some new advice from my unni. She said her friend sucked on lemon slices and drank organic pregnancy tea. At this point, I am willing to try anything so I will be going out to get some today. Buy Buy Baby also sells preggo pops, which are lollipops that you can suck on for morning sickness. I’m going to try those as well. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. I still eat crackers and nuts everyday….and no more ginger for me. I’ve sucked on so much ginger that I don’t even want to ever see ginger again.

This pregnancy has been so hard and at times really horrible, but I am still so thankful for this experience. I feel so blessed to be able to go through this and know that my baby is growing healthy. I know I can take anything as long as I know I will be gifted with a healthy baby at the end. Although it’s hard, I have to admit I’m loving every minute of this pregnancy. Just looking at my ultrasound pics makes everything a whole lot better. I can’t wait to meet this baby!

New Ultrasound Pictures - 12 weeks and 3 days

I just got back from my 12w3d appointment. The first picture you can see the baby's hand wave. The second is a perfect profile picture. I was so happy to see this baby again today. I had another amazing appointment. This ultrasound appointment was a little different than the last one, as they did a Nuchal Screening test. The doctor measures the back fold of the neck to determine if there's a chance of Down Syndrome and other abnormalities in the baby. It was also an "over the belly" ultrasound. The doctor said everything looks normal so I'm very happy. I was so surprised to see how much the baby was moving during the ultrasound, too. The baby was moving the head and body, and at one time even waved his hand at us! It's so cute how the baby moves around in that little space, but it's still too small for me to actually feel it. The heart rate was beating at a great pace at 167bpm. Gosh, words can't express how much I'm so in LOVE with this baby already!
